Hello to all my k-5 classroom teachers out there!  I have a super fun technology gift for you.  Are you totally bored with your morning meeting/ circle time?  Are the kids over the flip charts and the same ole' stale stuff? Do you need to add some fun learning activities for students that finish their work early?  If so, please take a look at this new idea that can freshen up your game.  Jump on over to The Trapped Librarian and read through her blog about Boom Cards.  Boom Cards are a tool that any teacher can use at any time.  They are short little games to play as a large group, in small groups, or for students to play independently.  The best part about Boom Cards is that there are hundreds of premade games to play on countless topics or you can even create your own.

  1. Hi Crystal! I LOVE boom cards! I started using them last year in my 4K classroom and they are so fun! I love that there are premade ones but that there is also the option to create your own so that you can tailor them to the exact needs of your class. You could use Boom Cards in the library to reinforce skills being taught in the classroom and vice versa. To get teachers excited and on board with this new technology, you could host a professional development on it during their professional learning community time. I think they would be willing to take it on if they knew you were there to walk them through the steps! Thanks for sharing this great resource!

  2. Cassie, That is a wonderful idea! I can see that over time, you could create an extensive collection of cards for teachers to use!

  3. Crystal,
I have never heard of Boom Cards before but can already see how beneficial they can be in the classroom. I like that you provided examples and resources to introduce readers to the variety of ways Boom Cards are used to enhance instruction. Your catchy introduction and the universal implementation of Boom Cards have made me want to share the resource with teachers at my school. I am also interested in making my own to use in the library to reinforce book care and library organization.
    Thanks for sharing Boom Cards!
